Beautiful identity by Josef Heigl for Josef Heigl. Simple, modern, edgy, his work relies on form instead of color, giving it an eccentric quality that leads me to believe he might be a perfectionist.
I haven't designed any patterns for about a year and I miss it, thankfully I discovered the following stylized plant motifs and feel rejuvenated and eager. Identity and collection of seed packs for The Balcony Gardener designed by Chloe Dunne.
Naive, a highly inspirational book for designers, illustrators and surface designers all over the world, contains no text and features brilliant artists such as Helen Dardik, Skinny La Minx, Darling Clementine, Jenn Ski, and Kate Sutton.
As soon as I saw Edholm and Ullenius' work, I thought it looked familiar, but it wasn't until I dug deeper into their pattern collection that I realized I saw a lot of them at Ikea while shopping for curtains. Based in Stockholm, the two designers create fresh and colorful designs that appear to attract a wide range of tastes.
When Pure Living designed the logo and packaging for Lucia, they were inspired by old, pre-war soap design from Spain and Portugal, creating a contemporary look rich with color and textures counteracted with clean black and white elements. The ligature in the logo gives it personality and a touch of surprise, allowing the logo to be memorable, yet elegant and clean.
I don't know much about this particular artist, Vale Al, but what I do know is that the simple shapes he/she uses are a perfect balance of realism and caricature, and that the use of color is very well refined, while the use of texture is simply perfect. To see more of his/her work, click here.

I simply adore David Arias' clever GDMA 2008 design. His use of lines to create typography is effective and interesting, furthermore, the contrast of colors supports the strong message. To see more of David's work, visit his website.
