The Modern Listerner's Guide

The creators of this amazing poster is The Modern Listener's Guide, which brings together the previously disparate worlds of indie-rock and information graphics, for reasons that still aren't immediately clear. This is the first print in the series and is a lyrical and statistical undressing of Destroyer's 2006 album Destroyer's Rubles, a triumph of drunken mystery-pop by Dan Bejar. Oh, Me Likey

Spike Press, AKA illustrator, designer and printer John Solimine, creates some of the most wonderful posters I've ever seen. John started out by designing rock posters, and now works for clients such as American Express, Best Buy, Lionhead Studios to name a few. Go to is his site and buy your favorite today, but carefully, it'll be terribly difficult to pick only one!

MPLS Print Exchange in Progress

Since I'm doing these in class, we have this great little print exchange where a theme – Birds and Bees – and a size – 6 x 6 – is selected and each student prints enough for everyone and at the end we all exchange so that we each get a print from each other. I decided to use this opportunity to print one of my many MPLS patterns. I did these in about 3 days, check 'em out : )

MPLS Comes to Life

Ahhh, I finally finished my first poster for MPLS. I was a little bit concerned about printing on the black paper, but they turned out great! I'm not completely sold on the shade of pink, but overall am very proud of how they turned out. 

Keep checking in, I'm currently working on a print exchange for my class that I'll be finishing this week and will be starting on scarves very soon.

Say It with a Poster

Creating effective posters is harder than it looks, I'm learning that quickly as I continue taking screenprinting classes, but I've found some excellent inspiration when it comes to clever, direct, and aesthetic communication: The Poster List. They create wonderful pop-art posters that are reasonably priced and gracious to Mother Nature  – printed with 100% vegetable ink on organic acid free paper.

Bonus: they're having a sale this week! Buy any 2 posters for only 20 bucks, so go crazy (actually you're not) and buy a bunch! Redo your apartment, annoy your roommate, express your opinion, rebel against the system with some unique wall art, whatever floats your boat : )

Screenprinting for 15 Bucks

So I finally got the posters done, that's right, I was a little busy with freelance but went into the studio three days in a row and got them done! It's for a Minneapolis local band, Standard Thompson (got ahead and download their free EP), and I think they turned out awesome. There's a limited quantity of 11 x 14 posters, but if you want one, email me and I'll send you one for $15 + shipping and handling. I'm going to continue taking screenprinting classes, so all profits are considered school funds!
